This is one sphere where the vast majority of race stables of the Thoroughbred persuasion have woefully neglected their animals. I can count on one hand the Thoroughbred
stables in the USA, I have known, that daily took pains to preserve hoof health. Few shedrows seem to know what the mud-bucket is or even routinely oil hooves after every day's work. It makes a huge difference in
hoof health! The old cliche' of "No hoof, no horse"
is perennial in its truth. Neglect hoof care and it will come back to haunt the best horseman. Religiously attend the hoof and it will reward. I plan to outline a few important practices on how all horses sthould be put-away after a day in the average race barn.
